Founded in 1981 by Mack Lee, Lee Gallery maintains an inventory of photography that spans the history of the medium from its early use during the 19th-century through its development over the course of the 20th-century. Over this range, our inventory emphasizes a number of specific concentrations. Our nineteenth century focus is on American, British, and French photographs, particularly those made during photography’s first three decades, as well as photographs of the American Civil War and the exploration of the American West. A second focus is the work of photographers of The Photo-Secession and the circle of Alfred Stieglitz. Aditionally, Lee Gallery maintains an inventory of work by 20th-century American masters of photography, as well as work by experimental post-war artists who incorporate photography into their broader art-making practices.
Lee Gallery joined The Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) in 1984, served on AIPAD’s board of directors for ten years, and exhibits annually at AIPAD’s photography fair at The Park Avenue Armory in New York City.
